Do you have unwanted glasses, frames or lenses?  You can donate them to the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Program by dropping them off at the Shamokin and Coal Township Public Library.  The eyeglasses are cleaned, classified by prescription and then distributed to those in need by Lion volunteers.  This program is sponsored in conjunction with the Shamokin Lions Club.

One Book, Every Young Child is Pennsylvania's first ever collaborative project using the vehicle of "One Book, One State" program to highlight the importance of early literacy development in preschoolers beginning in April, 2006.  This program has been developed by librarians and educators from across Pennsylvania to promote the value and benefits of reading early and often to preschoolers and to encourage family bonding through books and reading.

What a Treasure!, a picture book by Jane and Will Hillenbrand for children ages 3 to 6, is Pennsylvania's One Book, Every Young Child 2010 selection.  Since the book was published in 2006, children have been accompanying Mole on his dig as he discovers exciting treasures for both his animal friends and for himself.
